Software Engineer Embedded Linux

Our customer develops high performance products for telecom providers, professional and home surfers alike. They are a multinational top player in the area of multiple-play gateways to support advanced voice, video, and data services such as broadband access, multiple wireless voice-over-IP (VoIP) lines, IPTV, video on demand (VOD), fixed-mobile convergence, UPnP media sharing, and printer sharing.

Job Description:

The Software Developer designs and develops Digital Media oriented Applications and Services for DSL Gateways or Digital Home Networking Devices (Handhelds, Setop-Box, PC, Home Automation).

• Designing, writing and module-testing new software programs
• Bolting-together existing software products and create added value on top
• Maintaining systems by correcting software defects
• Investigating new software technologies
• Writing operational documentation
• Working closely with other staff, such as project managers, test engineers, graphic artists, systems analysts, and sales and marketing professionals
• Constantly updating technical knowledge and skills by attending in-house and/or external courses, reading manuals and accessing new applications
• Problem-solving and thinking laterally as part of a team, or individually, to meet the needs of the project

Necessary Qualifications / Experience:

Preferred experience or knowledge in one or more of the following domains:

• Bachelor's or higher advanced degree in Computer Science or a relevant equivalent is required
• 1-5 years business experience or equivalent in side projects next to educational career
• Experience in developing Linux applications in the Multimedia-content-delivery domain. (UPnP AV, Samba, …)
• Profound C/C++ knowledge
• Knowledge of internet topology and networking protocols
• Clearcase

Personal Skills:

• English fluent S+R+W, Dutch is plus
• You are highly motivated to build the central place of the Digital Home

• You work fast and output driven
• You have excellent communication skills
