SW Engineer Network Management

Our customer develops high performance products for telecom providers, professional and home surfers alike. They are a multinational top player in the area of multiple-play gateways to support advanced voice, video, and data services such as broadband access, multiple wireless voice-over-IP (VoIP) lines, IPTV, video on demand (VOD), fixed-mobile convergence, UPnP media sharing, and printer sharing.

Job Description:

• You are responsible for developing embedded software on the application, presentation and session OSI layers.
• Feature analysis and feasibility study
• Feature architecture and design documentation
• Feature implementation (software development), testing and bug fixing
• Consult/share knowledge with colleagues on area of expertise
• Problem analysis of (mainly new) customer issues, like errors in modem-server communication
• Your internal contacts include the Project manager, Colleagues/team members, Test department, Automation group, Presales, Systems group, Beijing. You have direct contact with external customers.

Necessary Qualifications / Experience:

Preferred experience or knowledge in one or more of the following domains:

• Education : Industrial engineer or Master in computer science or equal
• Junior profiles can apply as well
• Knowledge of C (preferred), Java or C++
• Basic network knowledge (master education level) : IP, TCP, ADSL, Ethernet, …
• Basic Linux knowledge is required
• TCL knowledge is a plus but not required

Personal Skills:

• Good knowledge of English is required (Dutch is a plus)
• Able to work in team
• Flexible, being able to work in a young and dynamic environment
• Willing to learn new technologies
• Able to read, analyze and implement standard specifications
• Critical towards own code (test oriented)
• Able to work independently
• Someone who takes initiative is a plus
